Okay, Hive, stop and think for a second. You know all those super cute magnet STDs that we talked about last time and are all over the wedding world? Well, how do you send them to your guests?
I mean, surely you can't stick a magnet to a fridge and then pop that sucker in the mail box. Image how much postage you would need!
If we choose to go with a magnet STD (which is the way I'm currently leaning, and have been for 3 days now which is currently a record), I think I have an idea of how we'll send them, but I think its a legitimate question to ask. I mean, you can just drop the magnet into an envelope, smack an address on top, and send it on its way. Can you?
Magnet Street Weddings has "carrier cards" that coordinate with the magnet STDs you can purchase from them.I'll show you an idea of what I thought was really cool, though. A Bride posted her STDs on the Mint Design Blog. This bride combined the best of both worlds by creating a large 'normal' sized STD with a matching magnet. The magnet was made extra cute by tucking it into a vellum coin envelope. Don't believe my word about the cuteness? Well here, see for yourself.
Has anybody found a good way to package/send your STDs? Please share!

Save the Date: Put it On Your Fridge
Unfortunately, I'm horrible about making up my mind! I change it daily about all this saving the date buisness. I'm kind of worried I'll end up just turning out crap because I've waited so long to get this done and I'll just have to make something rather than have nothing. Eep.
Okay, all those negative worrysome thoughts aside (where they belong), here's what crazy hair brained scheme I've cooked up now: Save The Date Magnets!

Off to Save the Date!
Wedding trouble never hangs around,
when it hears these wedding bells sound,
Here I come to save the date!
That means that Mighty Giraffe is on the way!
Yes sir, when there is a dress to bustle,
Mighty Giraffe will join the tussle!
At the church or with the wedding band,
She's got the situation well in hand!
Okay so maybe the song didn't quite go like that, but that Mouse seemed to do it all! (source)
I bet if Mighty Mouse was trying to plan a wedding, he'd have his STDs figured out.
See, here's the thing, hive, I am completely incapable of making up my mind about pretty much anything (wedding related especially). Mr. Giraffe keeps reminding me that I need to get our STDs figured out and soon. See, I had finally decided that I wanted a photo save the date. Granted, that seems like a small decision since I have yet to decide on what I want them to look like (besides thinking that I had all ready figured it out).
The trouble is, our STDs need to be ready to go next month, and one month is not a very long time. It seems like even less when, oh, I haven't even started to design them, and we have to fit printing time in there as well. I try not to think about the fact that I'll need to order envelopes and collect addresses too (because if I do, I might freak out just a little).
And even more trouble? Well, my decision of doing photo STDs? Well, we're still waiting on our E-Pics from our photogs, and we're still waiting on our teaser shots from them too. See, those photos are going to be super rock start super awesome when we receive them, but until then, I think Mr. G is right when he says we should have a back up STD ready just in case we don't get photos in the next month.
So now, after looking at a bajillion photo STDs, I'm now collection inspiration for non photo STDs. Here are a few of my favorites.

Save the . . . Envelope?
So people get STDs in the mail all the time, right? And us future brides to be are known to spend hours drooling over hip and lovely ones on the internet, right? I'm sure it's all completely normal...
Even if its not normal, I have found an STD that blew me away. Few STDs have made me swoon like this one. It's one of the first STDs that I've seen that I've instantly fallen in love with.
The problem? I don't really like the actual Save The Date card. . . The cars doesn't do anything for me. Sure, I guess it looks nice, but I think it's just really not my style.
What makes it so amazing, then? The Envelopes! And it's so simple; I don't know why I never thought about it before, yo! I can't believe I've never even considered this idea.
The envelopes look to be standard business size (props for breaking out of the standard postcars/invite size) and they're made of vellum. The big kicker? The labels! The couple had an affliction for New Mexico (where they met) so the designer ordered vintage New Mexico maps off of ebay, and printing address on them so they could function as labels. Mmmm!
Commence drooling now! (Also, enjoy the full STD post, with more photos, here.)
