Holy Modern Art, Batman!

So I was an art major in college, and am currently a graphic designer. What does this mean, you say? It means I have an appreciation for art that some don't . . . similar to the way Mr. Giraffe has an appreciation for music that I don't (and possibly never will?). Anyway, I may have hated those four semesters of art history at the time, but I have come to look up to the artists that have come before me, and hope to one day impact the world like they have.

What does this all mean? Simple. . . I like art. Also, I like weddings! And as an artist, I would want art to be part if a wedding perhaps. . . But how could I do this?! I'll tell you! It's so simple, but not simple at all. It's the cake!

As if cake wasn't an art form all ready, feast your eyes (any maybe your stomachs?) on this baby! (image source)
A little Piet Mondrian, maybe? Tasty, I know! There are no words to describe this cake! It's art and cake at the same time! (And two of my favorite things too. Coincidence? I think not.) Om nom nom nom nom.

First off, I have no idea how this cake was made. Believe it or not, all those episodes of Cake Boss haven't made me the pasty chef I thought I could be. From my novice baking skills of a birthday cake or two, I know that there must be layers to this cake? Although how they made all those layers possible without being exactly the same size or exactly right on top of each other, I have no idea. All though, using my sleuthing skills, I was able to deduce that food coloring was used. That doesn't explain the mystery though! Ahhh, I guess I just have to be impressed by it.

Love it!

Anybody else totally impressed? Don't lie, I know you are ;-).

So totally un-wedding related, but if I had a cat, s/he would totally totally sleep in a giant croc bed!!

Kendra Married!

So I caught a repeat of E's Kendra tonight (I don't watch it that much, I swear), and it just happened to be the episode featuring her wedding. It was weird to see her get married, I'm surprised to see her settle down, it seems like she was just a Girl Next Door. It seems like she's really grown up since then!

Anyway, the wedding was nothing short of stunning. It took place at the playboy mansion (naturaly), but it was a very pretty location. The bajiilion person bridal party realy took my breath away. The girls had on lilac colored dresses and white and purple bouquets. The whole party really looked stunning. The guys though, they were really something else! The wore white tuxes with matching lilac ties, and they sure looked sharp! I never even pictured white tuxes as an option for someone other than the groom, but those guys sure pulled it off! I mean, really really sharp! Kendra's Hubby to Be had on a white tux, but with a white tie. And even though the tie was the only difference, it definitely made him look good and set him apart for the other guys!

Oh, and Kendra's dress was gorgeous too! She was also pregnant at the time, but I heard she just had a baby boy recently so super congratulations to her!

And if you were curious, she did have her first dance with Hank and then a second dance with Hugh Hefner. haha!

Pictures were taken from vaious celeb gossip blogs (which I swear I don't read... really).

Butterflying Down the Aisle

I saw this photo online here (who said it came from Martha, of course). But I was pretty intrigued. It's not often that brides stray away from the traditional flower bouquet, but if a bride is courageous enough to do so, this little gem could definitely take your breath away and make for great great photos.

I love you, but . . .

But sometimes you just don't get it, do you? Wait a minute, you mean you plan on thinking about other things besides our wedding for the next year and a half? Unacceptable!

While talking wedding to Mr.TB, I said something about how I always knew I wanted a good photographer and had to have a photo booth, but videography (which never seemed important to me) was now making it's way onto my 'must do' list. But should we really look into having all three things for our day?

So Mr.TB says "A photographer, photo booth, and a videographer? Why don't we get just one? They're like the same thing. If we get a videographer, I'm sure we can just get stills of the video from them."

Naturally, I look at TB like he's crazy and tell him it doesn't work that way, and I have to have all three and I'll have regrets if I choose not to (and I'll never be happy ever again and life will end, etc etc).

So he smiles at me, shakes his head, and just says, "Whatever you want, MC."

So long story short, he's cute, I love him, and he tries to say the 'right thing' which I give him credit for. . . but, video stills, really? C'mon people - high res or nothing :)!
